Description

Say What You Mean and Mean What You Say: How to Communicate EffectivelyAudience: Basic Skills Instructors, Case Managers, and Counselors

The ability to communicate effectively is an essential skill that contributes significantly to one’s success both professionally and personally. It trains students to express their ideas clearly and succinctly both orally and in written form. It builds rapport and fosters good will and understanding among friends and family members. It enables employees to perform their tasks more successfully and foster good working relationships with their colleagues. How can we help young adults communicate their ideas more clearly, succinctly, and professionally especially as they prepare to enter the workforce? In this workshop, participants will identify key challenges and barriers that young adults have in communicating effectively. They will discuss and explore strategies to help youth overcome such barriers and further develop their communication skills.
